These lovely Pi Xiu Stained Jade carvings are at the factory
This man does a wonderful job on his carvings.
Traditional Chinese refer to these creatures as "Pi Xiu" and they represent bravery, righteousness, and chivalry.
According to legend, the Pi Xiu was a fierce creature that was tamed by the Buddha.
The Pi Xiu is an auspicious symbol of wealth to the Chinese and their statues are very popular today.
It is believed that putting a lottery ticket between the Pi Xiu's teeth before the drawing will turn it into the winning ticket.
Superstition aside, the creature is used in Feng Shui as it has the properties of locking onto wealth and preventing it from flowing away.
