Exotic Treks Special: Sailing Indonesia on the Katharina

4 Days/3 Nights CHRISTMAS CRUISE 2005

Day 1

Early morning flight Denpasar – Mataram (Lombok). Transfer from the airport to Lembar, harbour of southeast Lombok where we embark Katharina... After checking in in our cabins, we will sail to Gili Tangkong, a tiny islet off the south-west peninsula of Lombok. We’ll spend a relaxing day on this island where only two families live under the palm trees, exploring the island, drinking fresh coconut milk, feeding bread to fish at a nearby beach and enjoying the pristinity of these Bounty islands. After lunch sailing to Gili Trawangan for a short snorkeling stop over the local reef. Night sailing to Pulau Moyo, an island north of west-Sumbawa.

 

Day 2

In the morning arrival at Moyo. Here we will hike to a small local waterfall hidden in the jungle and take a bath in the fresh-water pool underneath and visit the locall village. From Moyo we will proceed to Satonda Island. Satonda is an extinct volcano with a brackish crater-lake in the middle. After our swim in the lake we will do some great snorkeling over the famous reefs surrounding the island. Late afternoon we’ll look for a spot to have a barbecue on the beach.

 

Day 3

Overnight sailing to Gili Lawang, east-Lombok.

Arrival at Gili Lawang. Exploration of the island, visiting fishing villages, meeting the local people and experience their lives which did not change for centuries. Rest of the day we spend with relaxation, swimming, snorkeling or fishing. In the afternoon we’ll sail along the north coast of Lombok heading west.

 

Day 4

In the morning we’ll arrive again at Gili Trawangan, where we will take a ride with local horse-charts through the sandy streets of the local village and enjoy a last relax, breathing the laid-back atmosphere of this island.. We’ll disembark at Teluk Nara, a bay close to the Gili’s at the mainland of Lombok. From here we will have our transfer to the airport of Mataram, the capital of Lombok for our return-flight to Denpasar.

Participants are informed that itinerary and program of our sea voyages occasionally may be (slightly) modified due to factors beyond our control: unfavorable weather conditions, delay in processing harbor clearances, modified schedules of domestic flights. The cruise director and captain of the Katharina will adjust the program accordingly to the best interest of all.
